GMA, a once in a lifetime challenge transformed into victory and pride

"I've lived all my life inside a wheat mill. Started working on wheat grinding as a trainee 29 years ago. Friends from the industry sector, in Brazil, told me about the Angolan GMA project. At the beginning I was only curious, but as soon as I met the people in charge and understood the project, curiosity quickly became a strong desire to embrace a challenge. New factory, new country, new city and new culture seemed a scenario created for those who love what they do and like to raise the bar professionally. Booting with a factory requires a lot of commitment and dedication. Since GMA is the biggest wheat mill to produce in Angola with a state of art machinery and production capacity of 1,200 tons per day, there was at the time no specialized labour force with the required knowledge of the sector. Just two months before the start-up of the factory, we decided to train local people in the technical, safety and quality areas. Today, after 6 months of operation, it is extremely gratifying to note that these people have become important parts in the production process of our factory and that many have held leadership positions, which represents the greatest victory and a source of pride for all of us.
